Participants gain an understanding of what is required to successfully complete an M&A, and the pitfalls that derail the process. Understand the roles and responsibilities of the individual departments, task forces and units within an organization as well as outside organizations, such as investment banking firms, business brokers, legal and accounting firms, and the general business network.
The steps of M&A process are explained in detail and practiced using relevant, industry-specific case studies. These case studies demonstrate the importance of developing an assimilation plan before the deal is closed. Particularly, the role that managers from the acquired firm play in developing the assimilation plan is explained.

Mr. Sunny Wong is the Executive Director of Tibet 5100 Water Resources Holdings Ltd., a listed company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He had been Chairman of Carlsberg Greater and then senior advisor to Carlsberg Asia China during September 2011 to November 2014.
Apart from the role as Chairman and CEO during the period from 2006 to 2014, Mr. Wong was also the chief of the M&A team. He set the strategic M&A plan for Carlsberg’s long-term development in China and led a team from identifying potential targets, negotiation, closing of deals to post-acquisition activities. The team has since 2002 successfully acquired 59 breweries in twelve provinces in China and increased the production plants from 1 to 60, with a total workforce up to 15,000. Carlsberg’s local brands in these provinces hold either number 1 or 2 market share position in their provinces and have strong distribution network.
Mr. Wong has a strong and successful background of more than 30 years’ experience in the China FMCG industry and has more than 25 years’ experience in the China beer market and was working for top international beer companies Carlsberg and Bass Brewers.
Mr. Wong graduated from Hong Kong Baptist College (now Hong Kong Baptist University) in 1978, major in business management and received his MBA degree from Bath University, UK in 2001. Since 2009, Mr. Wong has been actively delivering talks on various topics to the government and business institutions, universities and secondary schools in Hong Kong.
Dr. Victor Ng is currently a Senior Vice President of one of top five banks in the world. He is currently responsible to oversee the strategic initiatives like M&As, Integrations and Branch Network Expansion for the Bank. Since September 2006, Dr. Ng was appointed as the Lead Executive to oversee the merger and acquisitions of several banks and financial institutions.
Dr. Ng started his career in banking as a Management Trainee and joined “Security Pacific Asian Bank”, the predecessor to Bank of America (Asia) Bank as the Business Development Manager in charge of marketing all retail and consumer banking products. He was promoted to a Senior Vice President at Bank of America (Asia) in 1996 overseeing the Bank’s Consumer Banking business and Mortgage Securitization business.
Dr. Ng graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University in 1981 and further obtained his higher certificate in Banking Studies at Hong Kong Polytechnic University in1986 as well as MBA from the University of East Asia in Macau in 1989. He is also a professional graduate of Retail Bank Management of USA Consumer Bankers Association’s Graduate School at the University of Virginia, USA.
Dr. Ng obtained his DBA with distinction Honor and was bestowed the Scholastic Award in 2013. Currently, he is an adjunct professor of a local University in Hong Kong teaching Part-time Master programs in China.
