The advancement in technology and social media usage has led to a decline in communication skills among our younger generations. Experts say people now are more passive in their communication and try to avoid meaningful conversations.
A lot of problems, whether job related or of a more personal nature, are due to poor communication. Effective communication is two-way – it’s not only how you convey a message so it can be properly received and understood by another party as you wish it to be, it is also how you listen and digest the message to gain the real meaning of what’s being said. It is important to make the speaker feel heard and understood. Improving your communication skills is not only helpful for your job, it also helps to enrich your quality of life and enhance your interpersonal relationships.
This “Effective Communication Strategies” Executive Certificate course helps participants deepen their connections with others, and improve teamwork, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills. It enables participants to communicate better, retain trust and avoid conflicts with others, even when the message is negative or difficult to deliver.
Effective communication is more than just the words you use, as it combines a set of skills including nonverbal communication, engaged listening, managing stress, communicate assertively, and the ability to recognize and understand emotions of your own and those of the person you’re communicating with.

Ms Scarlett Tsoi Yee-man (蔡綺文小姐)
Ms Scarlett Tsoi Yee-man is the guest lecturer of HSMC-EDC. She is an Accredited Family Mediator, a Certified Enneagram Trainer, a Clinical Hypnotherapist，Certified NLP Trainer, a Registered Corporate Coach, and a Certified Meta Coach, etc. Scarlett has been the principal trainer and the psychological counsellor for both the International Positive Psychological Association and the Hong Kong Society of Professional Training. She specializes psychological counselling, marital & family therapy, branding consulting, and interpersonal communication development. At the same time, she also possesses recognized qualifications as a Certified Master Psychotherapist and a Certified Professional Corporate Trainer in China.
Serving court liaison offices all over Hong Kong in her earlier career, Scarlett has worked with people from all walks of life. Thus, she had gained a diverse and profound experience that helps her understanding in human psychology and behavior, intrapersonal and interpersonal communication, EQ, and NLP. She is fully capable of integrating theoretic knowledge into daily application. As Scarlett has slowly developed several sets of practical skills of counselling and training, she also become famous for her theory of the 4Ps – Positive thinking, Positive attitude, Positive language, and Positive energy.
With her true-hearted, genuineness, and empathy, Scarlett is an ABC trainer – Amiable, Brilliant, Caring, who always guides people to a happy life and shows parents about effective parenting techniques. She has made contributions in different community centres and charity organizations both as a volunteer and trainers, both government and private. She is also the founder of the Bliss Art Gallery, a NGO that dedicated in development among disables; an author of Happy Parenting; a columnist of newspapers and magazines; and furthermore a guest speaker for an RTHK radio programme. Scarlett also occasionally teaches at different universities in Hong Kong and Macau.
